Final Fantasy Adventure for Game Boy - A Review | hungrygoriya
Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy is one of the best action RPGs on the handheld that I've played so far. Its story and characters are memorable, and even though it has some soft locking potential, the game's still a treat to play from start to finish. Just make sure you take advantage of the second save slot. It's definitely worth a playthrough if you enjoy a sword-swinging good time. 🍖

Ghostbusters II is Something Else... - MS DOS Review | hungrygoriya

Ghostbusters II for PC and MS-DOS was a pleasant surprise. I came into it expecting an easy and short game, but was instead swept up in its challenging fun. Crafting the perfect run from start to finish was as tedious as it was rewarding, but I was extremely pleased with how much enjoyment I got out of it. Neutopia for TurboGrafx 16 is Just Okay - A Review | hungrygoriya

As a long-time fan of The Legend of Zelda, I was interested in playing Neutopia for many years before I finally got the opportunity to. I eventually picked up a TG-16 mini console and experienced it that way, but it wasn't all I was hoping it would be. It needed a huge dose of variety in its dungeons and more challenge to be something special, but as it stands, it's fairly mediocre. Other games...

Your critique of this game helps my own game development. How important it is, to show that the player's actions changed something within the world The townspeople not reacting to your heroics, it really bothered you. It wouldn't even have been difficult to add some small changes, I'm sure they had the room to do so. Some other old games like Terranigma, or Chrono Trigger, there your actions had huge consequences

It was games like this that got me into collecting for the Sega CD. Granted, there were a lot of turkeys for games on that system ... the vast majority of them being FMV-based ... but the Sega CD also had some spectacular gems. All of the Working Designs games for the Sega CD were gems. "Vay" would be considered the weakest of the four, but even that was at least a decently good game and it was obvious that the Working Designs localization team put some heart into it ... even though some would complain of some of the liberties they had taken in translating the games they were licensed to sell. Oh, and with the Model 1 Genesis and any Sega CD, you must use the mixing cable between the headphone port and the Sega CD unit, with stereo audio out coming from the Sega CD. When setting the headphone volume for the mixing cable, the volume is supposed to be set around 7. Of course, this isn't an issue with the Model 2 Genesis as it didn't require the mixing cable ... then again, the Model 2 has all sorts of mainboard revisions that have their own way of mixing audio from the Sega CD, the FM synthesis, and the PSG, with some revisions being better than others. It was like Sega couldn't quite figure it out.

Some of these later Master Sysem games look really beautiful, the system really seems to have picked up its stride in its last few years in Europe. I understand why Sega let it go off into the sunset in the US though. Apparently Wal Mart forced them to accept some terrible terms to carry the Genesis which hurt them more than anybody knew, like they had to have tons of copies of games and hardware available at all times, and buy back unsold merchandise. Keeping the Master System afloat likely would have hurt them in that market.

There is also a lost trailer for this game, it was at E3 in 2005! The trailer had the songs “Road to Victory” and “Exploring the Cave” from Kirby’s Return to Dream Land in the background with new footage, such as a level where Kirby would be riding Flappy and a cutscene leading up to the fight against Robo Dedede, Dedede’s huge mech. Also, I have new info! The game was like Kirby Super Star and it’s remake with tons of modes, there were modes such as a sequel to Dyna Blade and a mode where Meta Knight was the main villain. The first, possible tutorial mode had Kirby saving the Warp Star from Dedede after it got stolen, and Dedede this time around has a mechanized hammer and a huge robot. An extra mode of that mode was also planned called “Save Kirby!” where the helpers set out on an adventure to save Kirby from Dedede, possibly with new levels to accommodate the helpers, along with EX versions of bosses. Some Kirby GCN models are actually in Smash Bros Brawl, and the most notable examples would have to be the Golem, Kracko (yes, he was in GCN, but no images showed him in game), and some of Kirby’s abilities.

The fact that the character faces only one direction no matter which way he goes is a major turn off. Why design the game that way? Sure even the original Japanese version of the first Dragon Quest was like that, but after how characters can face any directions they turn to even in the NES era, this design is inexcusable. If they ever remaster this in the current era, they better get rid of the facing only in one direction nonsense.

The first Castlevania honestly aged shockingly well all things considered. One of my favorite memories with it was when I found out you could break Dracula's fireballs with the Holy Water and use them to get the double and triple shot, it made me feel super smart and gives a way to use the triple Holy Water even if you lose it earlier in the level. Also if you liked Simon's Quest then I recommend checking out the later games in the series. Games like Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia are some of the best in the series. And if you really want something similar then I'd recommend Harmony of Dissonance or Castlevania Revamped.

Now *if* they only add in characters (npc) named Biggs and Wedge the way Final Fantasy did, then the comparison would really something. Ironically, Phantasy Star series, though I haven’t played most them, is my favorite series after Dragon Quest. Of the Phantasy Star games, I first played the GameCube’s Phantasy Star Online, then GBA’s Phantasy Star collection, Phantasy Star Nova on the Vita, and finally all four first Phantasy Star on the Switch. Now *if* only they would port over Phantasy Star Universe games, especially Ambition of the Illuminous to the modern consoles including the Switch.
